Invitation to KAI-TEN-KAI
I had recreated my room at home in the art museum and invited audiences to experience my work of ‘Kai-Ten-Kai’. I arranged a turn-table on the tatami floor and set a cushion on it. Then prepared all sorts of colorful cloths and party goods. The audiences were to sit on a turn-table and stay there for about 20 seconds while it whirled. They were asked to image themselves as spinning objects they would make on the turn-table and wear dresses of various colors.
This performing work started at the Yokohama Art Museum in 2005 and about 800 people had participated. I took 811 photographs and exhibited them on the walls of the museum.
